Only 45 of the 270 submissions to this show were accepted. I am pleased that this one made it. The atturah's for the two tallasim are statements of the torah. The first one is from the statement that is was dark on surface of the earth. And the white tallis has G-d's statement that "there should be light and their was light." These two tallis are exact opposites. Thread by thread opposites in White and Black silk. I have been making a set of pillows for augmenting the living room. These are all made using rib-weave. This collection of bright and various colors has worked out very nicely. This collection of pillows are 20x20, 16x16 and 12x12. The three pillows provide easily washed cotton covers. The bright colors augments the room and improves the otherwise simple couch.<br />
I have to admit that I am getting into the rib-weave process and I have found several good ways to use it. Now that we are living down here by the ocean, it seems appropriate with starting sailing again. I am working on passing the 101 and 103 permits so that I can rent sail boats. Yesterday, I spent some time out on a nice little 22 footer. The wind picked up in the afternoon to 11 or 12. This nice snug little boat was making a good run. We were able to sail out about half way to the islands and back between 2 and 5 in the afternoon. The biggest problem in this afternoon is making sure that you don't get too close to the fishermen. You are also sailing in the area of the big shipping boats and have to make sure you don't get in their way. Fortunately, they don't come through too often.<br />

Well, the summer is coming. I only have a month or two and school will be done. I will have to take time to work on my blog again. Meanwhile, I have had time to do a reasonable amount of time and work to lay out. So I will take some time trying to update and publish the work I have been doing.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6VKYZ8gD8BOlcKKVLZm6YEOtzXESl3VrukGMw-_kgGRoBSvy0l1uB2ffNRlx_q1ofPGrQI5PN0CACW4GzARwBLM8e9YMCxa4u0l7YkQKrs9kLjxLPfTBXUXzujh-Lp72LpmKwseflMXk/s1600/IMG_2545.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6VKYZ8gD8BOlcKKVLZm6YEOtzXESl3VrukGMw-_kgGRoBSvy0l1uB2ffNRlx_q1ofPGrQI5PN0CACW4GzARwBLM8e9YMCxa4u0l7YkQKrs9kLjxLPfTBXUXzujh-Lp72LpmKwseflMXk/s200/IMG_2545.jpg" width="150" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I have been trying to decide whether to write about in order from past to present or present to past. I think I will write from most present back to past and see what I can. The most recent is the tallis that I have just finished. This most recent one was made for someone in the east coast area. Here are two pictures of this most recent large tallis.<br />
This tallis set is unique in color. It was YO1D and B4D, 100% SILK, 30/2 fine silk. I am quite pleased with the results. The tallis is surprisingly light. Since it was 30/2 silk it has almost now weight, but because it is silk, it has plenty of strength and workship is beautiful. I certainly that the new owner is pleased when he receives it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-hn0V0SeCso_T1GvZ50V_zAvocHIz4MIr7_GW0SokbuS6L6HqGv9RRsTxTSiNxjSdRqXYK2q9eUxuoiUtl-5sOcXF0tGLw1Iv4vp3ILvEL9hP9ojanbE8JleMlGjdSlYGvMFM4ruxPTg/s1600/2013-03-20_14-39-34_315.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-hn0V0SeCso_T1GvZ50V_zAvocHIz4MIr7_GW0SokbuS6L6HqGv9RRsTxTSiNxjSdRqXYK2q9eUxuoiUtl-5sOcXF0tGLw1Iv4vp3ILvEL9hP9ojanbE8JleMlGjdSlYGvMFM4ruxPTg/s320/2013-03-20_14-39-34_315.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
So... That is certainly the most recent thing, but there is other work finishing soon. I have finishing work on a chuppah. The weaving is complete, but I am still figuring out how to support the Chuppah. It was woven as one long piece, but I do not yet know how it will be held. There are a couple of ways to support pieces of work. Anyway, the chuppah is made of Jaggerspun 2/18 wool and silk. I am using grey, orange, aqua and purple. I have only photographed while it was holding on the wall and drying. I have added clear wall support so that it can be hung on a wall when it gets there. <br />
<span id="goog_1505667126"></span><br />
<br />
The picture is not the best. I'll have to put out another once I have a system that can really look like a chuppah. Anyway, I should hear from them soon. The double weave pickup turned out pretty well. I think I am giving it to them next weekend. I'll add more pictures as I can.<br />

Listen to this and join!! We must work now or there will not be a world for our sons and daughters. There no longer is the world that we grew up with. Our grandchildren will not grow up in the world we enjoyed. We must all accept this reality and work together. Spread the word!!<br />

These are really nice bags. I must admit that I got the idea from a bag made for me by a friend. The underlying support is some plastic based Cat Screen. The material is used to make window screens that cat's can not ruin. That is a strong support for a good bag. I used wool based material for the edges.<div><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB54JZtb3Z3f8xqtWpTOVdNwufviNzOzNdF_irDaNV1Tghrw_WoWGFXTXvRhqTOVp-92nAeYfwq3S0Wl0QErE24ch1TPh77VXRBfQSRwXv1xqnQWsWnWeEwjxKUcfPJZiX8-B_8y1iU8s/s320/IMG_2356.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662747160834211138" /></div><div>In these pictures you can see how well they ended up. <br /></div><div> I have been holding this material for quite a while well I thought about the pattern to use. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Unfortunately, I photographed these this morning and </div>
<br /><div>there is not very much sun today. These pictures don't give all the extra gloss and shine that are available in this material. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Anyway, I now have a pattern set that works well and exactly works for my wife. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>She has tried them both, and they fit her perfectly. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Now it's time to work on some different patterns. </div><div>

It gives me a chance to meet people and talk about weaving. Why weaving is fun and comfortable and why it is worth their opportunity to get reconnected to fiber. I also get the chance to go and look at all the other work too. I saw two things that I really liked.<div><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_gleBmV6-ef6Kus6M_t7Gz7TDs-6bWknwWujwSmYnVZkfB5jd-VQgCOSKn0lwZbP32-KZOz6eRKgSrCKzIeyFYCYPBEHM_W3H5A87eFk5bN-5O1SO9BynFwmjFdva0E9UdvTh8ph2lak/s320/IMG_2251.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5638274709795852658" /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>This item was called "Green Eggs and Ham". It is make of stone and metal and was submitted as a multiple materials art piece. I liked the presentation of the components and it caught my funny bone. </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#0000ee;"><br /></span></div><div>There were a number of other items that I also really liked. Near this one, was a stone Giraffe. It was very beautifully executed out of stone.</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguwxpt_tQY5_7oxNTdzQ1Lw7oliEMu1tVZcpabdeQouUt37vk4GAFn6MM8E3d8c7tdSFbYng9a0zIIKshoFqbMbA-_HRu-l_JjyMeVqtwWig-EjRQs3kx1dvM4j77y88uB65iEPMmjHmg/s320/IMG_2252.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5638276467974558658" style="float: right; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: underline; "><br /></span></div><div>In addition to these items I also liked the three things that I submitted to the fair. I have been thinking for some time about a design for a blouse. I wove some beautiful cloth a while a go, but I have not been able to figure out the design for quite a while. I have made about three or four different designs, but I have not been happy until this morning. Today it came to me so easily. I took half of one design and half of a different one and together the appearance works. I used the arms of one and the front and back of another. To<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4DdbujQViFuj1kz9xTQLUyIgCx9NE8obPBwhFDSgXQPq5PcMvw0ZvYRoaXVhBt8MBmTHttWqFLWV6YbrH2eq4uD0Kf7G1101FlocUgP_qR3z2cFxLuL_8EYocrq85dw1DE-j8a5PFLS8/s400/IMG_2200.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623005889217941506" />gether the appearance is perfect.So today I cut the cloth and put together the blouse. <div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Now I can start thinking about the next project. I have some wonderful white cotton that I think will make great things to but on when going to the swimming pool. </div><div>Now I have to go to work on the design. </div>Welcome to my weaving blog.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12958954860537935179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3239054070013416903.post-41161565921385216232011-06-23T14:14:00.000-07:002011-06-23T14:29:40.157-07:00A new Tallis!Oh my gosh, it is surely summer!! I started with hand dyed silk and organized the warp with colors matching. The matched coloring gives me a better color structure for the tallis.<div>Then I went to work on getting a better atturah so that the blessing is better readable. The stripes are make of jewish stars. It is one of the best I have made so far. It has a very gentle color appearance. I think I will have to make a few more of this design.</div>Welcome to my weaving blog.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12958954860537935179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3239054070013416903.post-1197728267252513752011-04-07T20:58:00.001-07:002011-04-07T21:14:18.421-07:00Learning how to make a basket!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-IVXpwdqAOFXJGeaFIzC9_NRxaYAO9zgrRXVDrgNQngfZp-NDBrIY-KxY_R0GFNxLZ7epvZgBe_z-9DHg05zDh4Bgq6Oc2V-7nibeAGKB-i4A5xeaB6nlNV30ojVkC6u4TXVwp1w2to4/s1600/IMG_2072.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-IVXpwdqAOFXJGeaFIzC9_NRxaYAO9zgrRXVDrgNQngfZp-NDBrIY-KxY_R0GFNxLZ7epvZgBe_z-9DHg05zDh4Bgq6Oc2V-7nibeAGKB-i4A5xeaB6nlNV30ojVkC6u4TXVwp1w2to4/s200/IMG_2072.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593060474868882130" /></a><br />What a great class! We know because we can still see now on the mountain. It is quite fun that we can see the snow out there on the mountain while we walk along the beach on the sand. We can also tell where the heavy winter storms have worked on the sand. After the storm, rain and heavy wind, today was beautiful. It's still cool, but the wind was not bad and we were able to go out and walk along the beach. Yesterday, there were very few people on the beach, but today there were a lot of people on the beach and enjoying the sun. Some people had brought their chairs and were out there sitting on the sand. We stopped and watched some of the surfers. <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYMq9fui0JXLOfdM1Oe12fzQ0XyVYaGFhizL6u3inyDkxaNJWw_VxajKaERkV41T-HvXotMynUHHPrZBzYs_GbK74ZzDErLHKWS2kHKjXL2JMyv4L6yW8PDl70ZulPmYR8WaeVCZzQqYo/s320/IMG_2030.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578494712216848130" />A group of four kids came down to the beach, stretched into their wet suits and started surfing. We were sitting on the sand on the other side of the pier than the area where they were surfing. <div>What a relaxing thing to walk out on the beach every day. Now we are waiting for a little bit warmer weather. Just a couple of days and it will be March. We are surely hoping that the spring will come soon!</div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>Welcome to my weaving blog.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12958954860537935179noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3239054070013416903.post-91828824187080218132011-02-26T15:38:00.001-08:002011-02-26T16:02:40.787-08:00Got our new table!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbld8QjS0cUrgUiEhvwSoQDLm2KFlG2hnnHf5brJUO9yZv4FfjCGK_X_5FzLXSmmapyLkY0lrXUm7J2NOddBsvIDsMVIoPEEbu1IQ6LImvFSRp4E-z8unQ2SMbd_OO7W9jfzXXvoyFxLo/s1600/IMG_2010.JPG"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbld8QjS0cUrgUiEhvwSoQDLm2KFlG2hnnHf5brJUO9yZv4FfjCGK_X_5FzLXSmmapyLkY0lrXUm7J2NOddBsvIDsMVIoPEEbu1IQ6LImvFSRp4E-z8unQ2SMbd_OO7W9jfzXXvoyFxLo/s200/IMG_2010.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578147217307209650" /></a>There it is! I took a couple of pictures when they finished working. On the left of the garage is storage and a swing up work space. On the right side of the garage are storage spaces where we can keep things. Both the appearance and strength of all this work are designed to keep things clean and out of way. This was clearly the first stage of our move. The other thing I did this weekend was the removal of all the closet setup from the initial build. The two lower level closets have now been cleaned out and the walls have been repainted. Those two empty closets will now be rebuilt by california closets soon.Welcome to my weaving blog.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12958954860537935179noreply@blogger.com0
