I have finished the Tallis!
The atturah was hand made by a woman. Her grand daughter will soon be bat mitzvah. I wove the cloth and sewed her atturah onto the the tallis. We will soon tie the tzitzi and then it will be done. I must admit her hand work is excellent. It really provides a beautiful piece for there grand daughter.

ReplyDeleteToday’s prayer shawl has changed a great deal from its earliest inception. Now silk tallit are also available. In the Encyclopedia Judaica it says that the first tallit “was usually made either of wool or of linen and probably resembled the abayah still worn by the Bedouin for protection against the weather.”
